It is hard to help someone who doesn’t want to help himself. But you can be there for him/her. And you may be able to lead him to taking small steps, one at a time. Every activity, be it getting out of bed in the morning, taking a shower and putting on fresh clothes, having a close look at a flower, listening to music, taking a walk around the block, going to the store to buy groceries, cleaning the floor, calling a friend, reading something, etc., can increase the feeling of self worth and being able and capable. When those experiences accumulate, which may take time and include setbacks, motivation will be the result. Motivation to do more with life than merely survive.
